Segmentation turns the patient's CT scan into the 3D anatomy that planning and PSI design are built on. This article shows you how to review a segmentation and then confirm it or send it back for correction.
When is it ready?
Most segmentations are available within 24 hours. You can start reviewing as soon as the 3D model loads. The CT keeps loading in the background, and each slice view shows its own progress.
What you see
The numbers in the screenshot below match this list.
A 3D view of the segmented anatomy.
Axial, Coronal and Sagittal CT views. Each anatomy group is outlined in its own color.
Viewer tools: Pan, Zoom and Window/Level, with Undo and Comments next to them. Demo cases have no Comments button.
The anatomy groups. Hover over a group and click the eye icon to show or hide it. When the scan has more than one CT series, Series selection appears in this panel too.
Confirm, in the header.
Note: Series selection is hidden when the case is locked or archived.
How to review
Rotate the 3D model and look for missing or extra parts.
Scroll through the slice views with the mouse wheel and check that the outlines follow the bone.
Hide structures you don't need, to inspect the ones you do.
Decide whether to confirm or reject.
If something looks wrong, see Imaging Upload & Segmentation Troubleshooting. For tips on getting clean results, see Getting the Best Segmentation Results.
Confirm or reject
Confirm
Click Confirm in the header to accept the segmentation and move to the next step. If the next step was already created earlier, a dialog asks whether to create a new one or continue with the existing one.
Reject
Click the red X in the header.
In Reject and Send for Review, write a note of at least 50 characters that explains what needs correcting.
Click Reject Segmentation.
The case is sent for review, and you receive an email when the review is complete. Until then, the segmentation is view-only for you.
Who can confirm or reject
You need edit access to the case. If you don't have it, Confirm is disabled and its tooltip explains why. See User Roles & Permissions.
