System Requirements

Browser, GPU/WebGL, RAM, display and network needed to run CustoMED.

CustoMED runs entirely in your web browser, so there's nothing to install for day-to-day use. Because it renders CT volumes and interactive 3D models, it does need a reasonably modern computer and browser. Use this as a checklist before your first case.

Browser

  • A current version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) is recommended. Recent Firefox and Safari also work.

  • Hardware-accelerated WebGL 2 must be enabled (default in supported browsers). The 3D editor and volume viewer rely on it.

  • Keep the browser updated. 3D performance and stability improve with newer versions.

Computer

  • Device: a desktop or laptop computer. A tablet can be used for viewing only.

  • Operating system: a supported, up-to-date Windows or macOS release.

  • Graphics (GPU): a modern GPU with WebGL 2. A dedicated GPU gives smoother 3D interaction on large cases.

  • Memory (RAM): 8 GB minimum; 16 GB or more recommended for large CT datasets.

  • Display: 1080p (1920x1080) or higher.

  • Input: a mouse (or trackpad) for precise 3D manipulation.

  • Microphone: optional, only needed if you use CORA by voice.

Network

  • A stable broadband connection. Uploading CT scans and downloading STL and DICOM files moves large amounts of data, so upload speed matters most at scan time.

  • Corporate firewalls and proxies must allow access to the CustoMED application and its file storage.

Good to know

  • Scans are checked and anonymized on your computer before upload, so large scans also need memory and processing power.

  • Keep the browser tab open during long uploads and while PDF reports are being created. CustoMED warns you if you try to leave while files are still processing.

  • If the 3D view is slow or blank, see Performance, Viewer & Technical Issues. It's usually related to WebGL or the GPU driver.

  • For the scan and file types you can upload, see Supported File Formats & Scan Protocols.
