Approving a Case

What approving a case means, how to approve, and what happens next.

This short guide explains what approving a case means, how to do it, and what happens next. It is for Clinicians and anyone else with the Approver role on a case.

What approval means

Approving a case confirms that you reviewed the plan and that it is acceptable to proceed. CustoMED records who approved the case and when.

The Approve step

The numbers in the screenshot below match this list.

  1. Approve Case, in the header. While another anatomy in the case is not planned yet, it reads Sign off and works the same way.

  2. The 3D preview. Use the arrows to step through the plan and PSI outputs in the pack.

  3. An anatomy that is not planned yet, with a button to add it.

  4. A planned anatomy with its plan version and PSI output. Click an eye icon to preview that output.

  5. Files: the pack's Delivery Note and Plan Report.

How to approve a case

  1. Open the case at its last step, Approve.

  2. Check the output pack in the side panel and preview each output in the 3D view.

  3. Click Approve Case (or Sign off).

  4. Read the Responsibility Acknowledgment and click Approve & Acknowledge.

CustoMED then creates the Plan Report for each pack. A Generating Plan Reports message shows the progress.

If the button is disabled, hover over it to see why. For example, you may not have permission to approve, the case may be waiting for back-office approval, or your organization may have no cases left in its case allowance.

Note: Approving the case for the first time uses one case from your organization's case allowance.

What happens after approval

  • Unsupervised organizations: your approval completes the case. Plan Only cases become Completed; Plan and PSI cases move to Ready for Production.

  • Supervised and Viewer organizations: the case also needs a back-office approval. After you approve, it is locked and shows Awaiting Final Review until the back office approves.

Most cases progress within 24 hours. For urgent cases, contact CustoMED support directly.

Not satisfied with a result?

On the planning steps, you can reject a result and send it for review. Write a note of at least 50 characters explaining what needs to change. The case is locked while it is reviewed, and you receive an email when the review is complete.
