Reviewing and Signing Off a Custom Case (Clinician)

Review each step back office prepared, pin comments, adjust movable objects, send the case back and approve it.

In a custom case, back office builds the plan step by step and sends it to you for review. You check each step, leave comments where you want changes, and approve the case when you're happy with it. This guide is for Clinicians and anyone else with the Approver role on a custom case.

The screens follow one demo pelvic tumor case, built on an anonymized sample scan, with four steps: Tumor, Cutting planes, Cutting guides and Implant positioning. For how back office builds it, see Building a Custom Case Plan (Back Office).

1. Open the case and pin a comment

You get an email when back office shares steps with you. On the home page, click the case card and then View. The case opens at the first step waiting for you, and the step list shows only the steps sent to you.

To comment on a spot in the plan:

  1. Click the comment icon in the toolbar. The Comments panel opens.

  2. Click the spot on the model. A comment box opens there.

  3. Type your comment. Type @ and a name to mention someone, then press Enter to pick them.

  4. Press Enter to post.

Your comment shows as a pin with your initials, and the people you mention get a notification.

Clicking the tumor opens a comment box. Typing @Dan and picking Daniel Brooks mentions back office, and posting leaves a pin with the clinician's initials

2. Adjust a movable object

Back office decides which objects you can move. Click a movable object to show its move handle, then drag an arrow to move it along that axis. The distance shows next to the handle while you drag. Use Undo in the toolbar to go back. Objects back office set as fixed don't move.

Implant positioning step: clicking the implant shows its move handle, and dragging the red arrow moves it along that axis

When you continue, your change is saved as a new version of that step, and back office sees which version you signed.

3. Continue through the steps

Click Continue to sign the step you're on and go to the next one. A step you sign is final: back office can't change it afterwards.

Clicking Continue on the Tumor, Cutting planes and Cutting guides steps

4. Send the case back to back office

On the last step, the button reads Send for review. Click it to sign that step and hand the case to back office.

The case is then locked: the header shows View Only, In Back Office, and a Sent to Manual Review message. This can take up to 24 hours, and you are notified when it's done.

Clicking Send for review on the Implant positioning step, after which the case shows Sent to Manual Review

5. Approve the case

When back office opens the case for your sign-off, you get an email and the case opens at Approve. Until then, it stays view only.

  1. Check the output pack in the side panel. Click the eye icon on a step to preview it.

  2. Click Approve Case.

  3. Read the Responsibility Acknowledgment and click Approve & Acknowledge.

CustoMED then creates the Plan Report. The step list shows Approved, the header shows View Only, Approved Case, and the pack records who approved it and when.

At Approve: clicking Approve Case, then Approve and Acknowledge, and the Plan Report being created

Click Preview under the report to read it page by page.

See Approving a Case for what happens after approval, and Downloading Files & Plan Reports to download the report and files.
