Welcome to CustoMED. This article explains what the platform does, how it works and what a typical case looks like. It is for new users.
CustoMED is a cloud-based platform that supports patient-specific surgical planning and the creation of patient-specific instruments (PSIs). With CustoMED, you and your team can:
Upload patient imaging data.
Review anatomical segmentations.
Collaborate on surgical planning.
Download files for PSIs and anatomical models, ready for production.
How CustoMED works
Every case moves through a structured, step-by-step workflow, such as segmentation, landmarks, planning and PSI design. This keeps cases consistent and traceable.
Click Save to keep your work in a step, and confirm the step to move on to the next one.
You can go back and iterate, and multiple versions are supported.
Some actions depend on your role, on the procedure and on the state of the case. For example, a locked or archived case allows fewer actions.
A typical case
Choose a procedure under Create New Case on the Home Page.
Fill in the case details and upload the imaging data.
Review and approve the segmentation.
Review the landmarks, the surgical plan and, if ordered, the PSI design.
Approve the case. Depending on your organization's supervision type, a back-office approval may also be needed.
Download the outputs.
Produce, validate and sterilize according to your workflow.
Most cases are supported within 24 hours, depending on complexity.
Organizations and roles
All work happens inside an organization. The Account menu at the top of the side navigation shows the organization you are working in.
You can belong to more than one organization, with a different role in each.
Your role decides which cases you see and whether you can view, edit, approve or download.
The procedures you see depend on your organization's license.
If a button you expect is missing, it is usually because of your role or the case state. See User Roles & Permissions.
What CustoMED does not do
Important: CustoMED does not provide diagnoses, treatment recommendations or autonomous clinical decisions. All outputs must be reviewed and approved by qualified users, and final clinical judgment and use remain entirely with the surgeon. See Regulatory Status and Use of the CustoMED Platform.
